Dandelion
Or Taraxacum officinale
I am so in awe of this super plant & unfortunately she is majorly underestimated and considered a weed.
If foraging make sure you stick to the cardinal rules;
~ Be mindful of pollutants ~ including traffic fumes, herbicides, toxic areas
~ Identify beyond a shadow of a doubt
This super angel has so many benefits
Her main action is as A urinary depurative {{ flushes kidneys, eliminates pathogens, wastes and toxins - used to treat infections and assist with detox }}
A potassium replenishing diuretic
Her powers continue as an appetite stimulator and aids the digestive system by increasing bile release and production. Bile helps to digest and break down food in the stomach, allowing our minerals and vitamins to be processed and allows all waste products to be excreted sufficiently
That being said she is gentle and nourishing in liver diseases, spleen imbalance, dyspepsia and skin conditions
Indicated in water retention and oedema, especially related to hypertension or heart disease
Use alongside Iris versicolor to aid in weightloss
In places like Mexico and Turkey they even use it as an anti-diabetic remedy
Studies have also shown shes useful in fighting breast, prostate cancer, chemo resistant melanomas and leukaemia.
And thats just to name a few of her superpowers
Contains vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K & potassium with rich antioxidants
All parts are edible, the flowers & leaves are delicious in salads or roasted as chips and roasted root is a perfect coffee substitute
The word Dandelion comes from the ancient Dent~de~lion or lions tooth, referring to the shape of the leaves
